Purpose

A VOICE ACROSS AMERICA - Our Proud organization was founded in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on 1915. Its main goal was to imporve working conditions of police officers. It has grown to over 2,100 local lodges with over 300,000 members across Americia.
 
A VOICE FOR EDUCATION - The FOP maintains an agressive schedule of seminars aimed at keeping members upto-date on the latest advances in bargining, employee relations and representation in addition to professional development.
 
A VOICE IN WASHINGTON - The FOP opened its Washington office in 1976. This office serves as the base for the FOP's lobbying efforts. The FOP is a respected voice in Washington and is frequently called upon by both Congress and the White House.
 
A VOICE OF FRATERNALISM - The FOP provides its members with opportunities to meet fellow officers and encourages networking.
 
A VOICE OF FAIRNESS - FOP LEGAL DEFENSE PLAN - The FOP has available the best legal protection plan available to help protect officers in a time of need.
 
A VOICE FOR YOU - The FOP is a democratic organization and contimues to help the members through state and national meetings in addition to the local lodge meetings. The FOP pays attention to YOUR VOICE and the VOICE OF FELLOW MEMBERS.
 
THE FOP STAYS IN TOUCH - Through the FOP Journal, Newswatch, Labor and Law Notes, Grand Lodge web site , www.grandlodgefop.org, keeps members informed and provides the greatest resources.

WHAT IS NEEDED TO CHARTER A LODGE?

Chartering a Local FOP lodge requires only 10 full-time law enforcement officers. They do not need to come from one agency. National and State Officers are available to assist with informal meetings to answer questions reguarding all aspects of forming a local lodge and showing you how a local lodge can benifit your department.
